LIFE IS INSIDE OUT, NOT OUTSIDE IN
There is an incredible deception so many people, including Christians, are caught by. Many think that if you change the externals, somehow you change the internals. People chase lotto dreams, and find disappointment. Christians change churches and discover the same issues with people. Others move town, change jobs, exchange partners, only to discover that they feel the same on the inside. My friends, you can change the wall-paper, but you will still live in the same house.
Mat 8:23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!" 26 He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. 27 The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!"
To Make a Difference in the World OUTSIDE, that difference must be first in the INSIDE world.
Num. 13:33 We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them."
Every promise not possessed is a heritage lost.
To Change the World OUTSIDE, first you have to change the World INSIDE.
Eph 3:14 When I think of the wisdom and scope of God's plan, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, 15 the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. 16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit. 17 And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God. 20 Now glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.
Principle of Sensitivity
We react and respond to what we are sensitized. Allergies etc. Looking for a ruby ring for Monqiue. Coffee smell.
Sensitive to the Spirit Activity, or sensitive to negativity? Are we sensitive to Word or Worry? Are we sensitive to praise and thanksgiving or to criticism and cynicism? Like a magnet, we train the pathway of our thinking by aligning our thoughts in structured directions.
Principle of Interpretation
Rejection colors relationships. Immorality colors trust. The pony joke. Mummy, there’s a pony in here somewhere!
NLT John 9:1 As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man who had been blind from birth. 2 "Teacher," his disciples asked him, "why was this man born blind? Was it a result of his own sins or those of his parents?" 3 "It was not because of his sins or his parents' sins," Jesus answered. "He was born blind so the power of God could be seen in him.
Principle of Attitude
James – the son of a friend won the second place rodeo champion of Mataranka in his age class. The funny thing was that there were only 2 competitors. But it changed his attitude so much, that he came back to Perth and won a bucking bull competition in the shopping centre because he was a Champion.
Numbers 13:30 "We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it."
Principle of the Strong Voice
NIV John 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
A mother, a father, a partner, a minister, a teacher – what is the strong voice in your life. Who is the strong voice in your life?
Rom. 12:2 Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.
- The lie of “better”!
- The confusion of choice!
- The power of commitment!
Nelson Mandela (From his 1994 Inaugural Speech)
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, famous?
Actually, who are you NOT to be?
You are a child of GOD. Your playing small does not serve the World.
There is nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other people won't feel unsure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of GOD that is within us.
It is not just in some of us: it is in everyone.
As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
